Meet your clinicians

Megan Orr, MSW, LCSW, CCTP, C-DBT (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical social worker, certified clinical trauma professional as well as certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She is licensed to practice in Illinois, South Carolina and North Carolina. She attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL and Aurora University in Aurora, IL. Megan’s undergraduate degree is in anthropology which gives her the knowledge to approach therapy through a lens of cultural diversity. Megan has extensive training in trauma, anxiety, LGBTQ issues and mindfulness. She has been trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction from the University of Massachusetts Medical School as well. Megan has a history of working in foster care, hospital settings, crisis situations and private practice. Megan opened Lotus Behavioral Wellness in 2021 with a goal of providing therapy in an accessible manner and supervision to new social workers seeking licensure.

Megan believes in a holistic approach to mental health. Our thoughts, feelings and bodily reactions are tied together. Megan believes that treatment works best when the body feels calm and the brain feels safe enough to use our advanced thinking skills. Megan takes a client-centered approach to therapy and works with the client from where they are at, not where the therapist thinks they should be. She believes that therapy is a partnership in the client’s journey to self-discovery and healing. Megan believes that different clients work best with different approaches. Megan enjoys using examples, analogies and sometimes humor to help clients relate to therapeutic concepts in their own language and experience.

Megan enjoys providing clinical supervision and being in a mentorship role. Megan seeks to support, guide and encourage new clinicians as they gain experience in the field.

Megan is not your “typical” therapist. The pink hair is probably a clue! Megan feels that her pinkness and tattoos make her more approachable and relatable. Megan enjoys hanging out with her family, friends and dogs. Megan is always reading at least two books, trying a new craft project or planning a roadtrip adventure. She can often be found spending time outside where she practices mindfulness the best.
